WTS uses the same statistical method as SSM to estimate the weight of hardware items, which is the critical input to weight-driven hardware cost models.
SSM and WTS when front ending your existing cost estimating models, allow quick, accurate estimates of software and hardware costs even for systems that are still in the concept stage. These methodologies were recently combined and extended to program budgeting by taking a configuration management approach to optimize overall system cost and performance.
