WTS

Overview

WTS uses the same statistical method as SSM to estimate the weight of  hardware items, which is the critical input to weight-driven hardware cost models..

WTS ... is a computerized simulation model providing rapid, accurate estimates of the expected weight of harware items.

WTS ... is a fully interactive, self-documented, menu-driven model with extensive on-line help facility.

WTS ... is an expert judgment type model based upon three key facts:

  1. The qualitative weight data available at the proposal stage is more  accurate than the corresponding quantitative data,
  2. Users can estimate of the relative weight of hardware items more reliably than they can their absolute sizes,
  3. The estimated and actual relative weight of hardware items are strongly correlated.

Summary

WTS provides a user with the means to estimate the weight of hardware items.  WTS structures the process, provides pre-defined data sets to be assessed during the estimation and automates the statistical analysis of the data.

WTS weight estimation is a sequential procedure which consists of the following steps:

  • The user provides project and hardware item data
  • WTS generates input screens customized to your project
  • The user provides the four required Input Data Sets by responding to queries presented on the screen
  • WTS Estimate function is invoked as the last step of the procedure and can only occur if the previous steps have been successfully completed.
     

The WTS output includes the weight estimates and standard deviation of all hardware items and of the entire system as well as confidence limits on the system weight.

WTS operational commands are based upon a friendly user interface built around a concept that is easy to learn and use.
